In our parish : No Greater Love – Week 2
March 10, 2026
‘So, you had not the strength to stay awake with me for one hour. (Matthew 26: 40-41)
This second night of our biblical walk through the Passion of Christ brings us again to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus asks his disciples to ‘watch and pray’ (Mark 14-38) while He goes to pray by himself. So, how well do we do each day in, spending time with Jesus in prayer? How much do we commit to our faith?
Charbel spoke about Judas betrayal of Jesus and how he lost hope and fell into despair because he was not sorry then took his own life, but he could have been forgiven if he repented. So, we were reminded that God can forgive all sin even mortal sin, if we are repentant and sorry. During this session Charbel explained the typology or parallels between the story of Abraham and Isaac in the Old Testament when God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only begotten son Isaac and God and Jesus in the New Testament when God sent us His only begotten Son Jesus to die
for us.
We heard in this session, about the moment in the Garden when Peter denied Jesus three times, but then Peter regrets what he did and is sorry. Then later Jesus asks Peter three times ‘Do you love me’ which counteracts his three denials, but Jesus was asking about a Sacrificial Love (Agape).
It is called ‘No Greater Love’ because Jesus willingly suffered for us. So, when we are tempted to complain about unimportant things in our lives we need to think about what Jesus did for us. There is no Easter Sunday without the Good Friday.
The next session of this program is 12 March 2026 at 7pm.
All are welcome.
