The Sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated by Bishop Brian Mascord to 41 candidates at Holy Family on Sunday 09 November 2025 assisted by Father Henry Adler P.P. The ceremony was presented over two Masses, with beautiful reflective music performed by the St Peter and St Paul Choir.
Mrs Amy Smith, the Principal from Holy Family school presented the candidates to the Bishop. Other teachers from Holy Family Primary School were also there to present the readings and prayers.
Bishop Brian invited the children to come and join him at the foot of the Sanctuary where he sat down with them asking them questions and listening to their responses. During the Bishop’s discussion with the children, he reminded them that they are children of God because we recognise God as our Father. As it was also the Feast of The Lateran Basilica, Bishop Brian explained a bit about that to the children, telling them that it was the Pope’s church, also known as the mother church for the whole world and that this feast is a sign of our unity with the universal church.
In conclusion, the Bishop explained to the children that even though they received the Gifts of the Holy Spirit at their Baptism, Confirmation now gives them the opportunity to speak for themselves and say ‘Yes’ to what they believe about their faith.
Both masses were well attended by family and friends of the candidates.
