In Our Parish : Scripture Students Mass 2025

November 11, 2025

At 2pm on the 3rd of August 2025 Holy Family parish hosted a special Mass for the scripture students from our local State Schools. This was the first time that a Mass was organised for these students, and the response was very Encouraging with around 80+ people attended including 28 students.

Our parish catechists, led by our co-ordinator Jo Mortimer, had spent several weeks preparing the children, some of whom had never been to Mass, teaching them songs and explaining the fundamentals of the Mass. Also, the students provided some drawings, colouring and reflections from their lessons which were displayed in the foyer of the church.

Fr Henry’s interaction with the children was wonderful, he invited them to come forward and join him at the foot of the altar for his homily when he reflected on the Gospel, the story of The Good Samaritan. He also asked them to join hands with him around the altar as we prayed the Our Father.

The afternoon concluded with an afternoon tea shared by everyone. Overall, it was a lovely celebration and, as a result, there has been some very positive feedback from the families who attended.

Thank you to all those who attended, especially the children who participated in the Mass, and to Fr Henry, Jo, our catechist’s team and all those who helped make this day a success.
