First World Day for Grandparents and Elderly | 25 July 2021

July 22, 2021

Sunday, 25 July 2021, has been designated by Pope Francis, as the First World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, to coincide with the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, Jesus’ grandparents. It is occurring in the Year of Amoris Laetitia Family 2021-22 with the theme, ‘I am with you always’.

The message and prayers aim to reaffirm and reassure all of us of God’s love, but especially the many older members of our faith communities, who often endure during the times of loneliness and suffering. It values their continuing vocation as well as recognises the ongoing vital role of grandparents and the elderly in the mission of the church.
