During the 9am Mass on the 8th September 2024, Holy Family parish celebrated the 149th Anniversary of the Society Of The Divine Word, (SVD) Foundation Day, which was first stablished by St Arnold Janssen who opened the first Mission house in Steyl, Holland on the 8th September 1875.

The order, of which our Parish Priest Father Henry Adler, is a member, is a congregation of religious Priests and Brothers dedicated to spreading the word of God throughout the world. Today there are about 6000 missionaries worldwide. This 149th Anniversary of the SVD begins the 150th Jubilee of the order – a year of celebration and blessing, which will climax on the 8th September 2025.
Father Henry also celebrates the 40th Anniversary of taking his vows with the SVD order and promising to dedicate his life to this wonderful mission. The Church also has chosen this day, 8th September to celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
After Mass, many parishioners stayed and enjoyed some social time together while enjoying some refreshments.
