Catechist Appeal : 23/24 July 2022

July 20, 2022

ARE YOU INTESTED IN JOINGING THE CATECHIST MINISTRY?

At masses on the weekend of 23rd/24th July we will be holding a Parish appeal for additional parishioners to join the catechist ministry and hope people will give
some thought and prayer regarding answering the call to join.
There is currently a team of 7 catechists actively involved in bringing ‘scripture’ lessons to the children of our local state schools. We would appreciate more help, and hope that there are some people in our parish who would enjoy the opportunity to share in this very rewarding activity. It is a joy and a privilege to spend 30 minutes with children in a class where the goal is for students to learn about and to experience Jesus’ love for them.

To become a catechist there is a short training course that may be undertaken online at any time of the year, or an in-person course in February (5 Monday sessions). Once training is completed, the new catechist acts as a helper to an experienced catechist. The person may remain as a helper or progress to taking their own lass/classes.

For those interested, we are holding a Catechist Information Session on Wednesday 27th July, 7-8pm, at the parish office, and would be very enthusiastic to meet you. We are hoping for some more catechists to start helping us in terms 3 and 4 of this year.
